WORK LOCATION: A Department or School within the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center and the Louisiana State University College of Agriculture, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Current units include the Department of Agricultural and Extension Education and Evaluation; the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness; the School of Animal Sciences, the Department of Entomology; the Department of Experimental Statistics; the School of Nutrition and Food Sciences; the School of Plant Environmental and Soil Sciences; the Department of Plant Pathology and Crop Physiology; the School of Renewable Natural Resources; and the School of Textiles, Apparel Design, and Merchandising.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This will be a tenured position and a 12-month fiscal appointment is preferred, although a 9-month academic appointment may be considered. The position will include research (70%) and teaching (30%) responsibilities. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program in a field of agriculture. The applicant will be expected to conduct research appropriate for publication in refereed journals; attract extramural funding; and participate in collaborative research within the department/school, across the campuses and the LSU system, and with outside entities. Candidates must be able to teach undergraduate/graduate courses. Teaching expectations also include shared responsibility for other departmental courses as well as recruiting and advising graduate students. Candidate will be expected to develop a strong graduate mentoring program, especially at the Ph.D. level.
State and federal authorizations under which the AgCenter operates mandate that research programs be formally documented in an Experiment Station project(s). The project(s) developed must be mission-oriented, responsive to stakeholder needs, and are peer reviewed and administratively approved. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in a field of agriculture or closely related field and a demonstrated record of career accomplishments in recognized disciplines related to the
mission of the AgCenter and the College of Agriculture. Expectations are that the candidate is recognized as a national and/or international authority with expertise in a defined agricultural field.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity for supplemental salary through extramural grant funding.
