Assistant Professor, Wildlife and Fisheries Resources – West Virginia University

The Division of Forestry and Natural Resources in West Virginia University’s Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design ( in Morgantown, WV, invites applications for a 9-month (academic year), tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Wildlife and Fisheries Resources program. Appointment will begin in August 2022.

The Division of Forestry and Natural Resources has five programs of study: Energy Land Management (ELM), Forest Resources Management (FRM), Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Resources (RPTR), Wildlife and Fisheries Resources (WFR), and Wood Science and Technology (WST). The Division is located in Percival Hall on the Evansdale campus, manages the 107-acre farm woodlot in Morgantown, the 7,800-acre University Research Forest at Coopers Rock, and several other forest properties located throughout West Virginia.

Duties and Responsibilities
The faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the following areas: Introduction to Wildlife and Fisheries (WMAN 175), Renewable Resources Policy and Governance (WMAN 421) and a graduate course in their area of expertise. They will also actively participate in undergraduate advising, mentoring of graduate students and curriculum development.

The candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded, nationally recognized research program focusing on wetland system ecology and management and complements existing program strengths.

The faculty member will engage in professional outreach activities and actively participate in university, community, and professional service activities. The faculty member will participate in program and division meetings, and contribute to course, curriculum and program assessment activities.

Salary and Rank: Salary commensurate with background and experience. Rank at the Assistant Professor level.
